Even though Apple's in-ear headphones are valued for their outstanding sound, this unfortunately doesn't always last. One problem that many users talk about is that AirPods become quieter over time. Today we want to explain to you what you can do if your AirPods have become quieter too.
There are several causes that can be the reason why the AirPods are loud differently. You can fix most of them without much effort, because if an AirPod doesn't work, it doesn't have to be defective. If you do need a replacement, you will also find out how you can order this from us.
One AirPod is quieter than the other - what could be the reason?
As with most other electronic devices, Apple headphones are not made to last forever. As usage progresses, you may experience volume issues, making it feel like your AirPods have gotten quieter. We want to look at the most common causes.
One of the most common reasons AirPods vary in volume is pollution. The more you use your AirPods, the more likely they are to get dirty. We have put together what you can do about it in Instructions for cleaning the AirPods. As long as you do this carefully, nothing can happen to your headphones.
The balance is not set correctly
It also happens from time to time that the volume on the individual headphones is output at different levels. You can easily check this by putting both AirPods in your ears and connecting them to a player. Bring up the menu and go to the audio settings. Here you will find sliders to adjust the balance.
The firmware is out of date
Like your phone, AirPods get regular firmware updates. To rule out outdated software, you should update it when your AirPods have become quieter. Sometimes it also helps to factory reset the devices.
What to do if an AirPod is quieter?
Now that you have gotten to know the most frequently mentioned causes for headphones that have become quieter, we would now like to give you a sequence with which you can rule out these causes. We recommend you do the following:
- Check your headphones for dirt. Never use water for this and follow our cleaning instructions. If you take a closer look, you can usually tell whether the volume is affected by dirt.
- If you can rule out contamination, then check in the second step whether the balance is set correctly. Even if this is the case, you can try to compensate for the difference in volume by adjusting the configuration. Then the cause has not been eliminated, but you no longer have a problem because an AirPod is quieter. However, this solution usually does not last because the technical problem that caused the quieter AirPods could not be resolved.
- If there is no improvement after step two, then reset the firmware and install the latest version.
- The last resort when a single AirPod isn't working is to buy a replacement part. You are welcome to contact us about this.
What can you do so that you can enjoy your headphones for a long time
If you have not yet had problems with your AirPods making different noises, then by using them carefully you can do something to ensure that you will not have this problem.
Since pollution is the number one cause of a quieter AirPod, you should be very careful about where you put your headphones. The safest way to store them is in the Charging Case. Washing your ears regularly also helps to reduce the accumulation of earwax on the earplugs.
AirPod is not repairable? We have replacements!
If you've followed all our advice and an AirPod still doesn't work, your only option is to buy a replacement. Fortunately, you don't have to buy a whole new bundle for this. Even if Apple itself does not offer any individual components.
This allows you to save a lot of money. A single left AirPod is of course significantly cheaper than a whole set. The environment also benefits because fewer resources are used and less waste is produced. Also why throw away working parts because the AirPods are different loud.
We only offer original goods
We would be happy to show you how we work. It's actually pretty simple. We buy original Apple AirPods ourselves. Then we divide these sets into the individual components and sell them on to our customers. This was the easiest way for us when we were looking for a solution to the lack of individual components for the headphones. The idea for this came about because we ourselves, as enthusiastic users, were looking for a single pair of headphones.
Of course, the manufacturer's guarantee also applies to the individual parts that we resell. And because we want you to be able to enjoy music again straight away, we test all products to ensure they work properly before they leave us. So we can reassure you that you will be spared a situation in which an AirPod does not work.
