AIRPODS CASE NO LONGER CHARGES: 5 COMMON CAUSES WITH SOLUTIONS

Posted by "OneEarPod" on

Your AirPods case suddenly stops charging? That's annoying. Other users also complain about this problem from time to time. But don't worry: in this article we'll show you the most common causes and quick solutions.

WHY IS MY AIRPOD CHARGING CASE NOT CHARGING?

There can be several reasons why your AirPod case can no longer charge. Here we now look at the reasons. Once you've tried all solutions, they should load fine again.

1. CHARGER OR CABLE IS DEFECTIVE

In some cases, the charger (power connector) or cable may be defective. This is more common with cables. See if you have a spare charger and cable at home and try charging the case with them. In many cases this has already resolved the problem. If you don't have either of these at home, you can go to an Apple Store and ask an employee to test it there.

2. CHANGE CHARGING METHOD FOR AIRPODS WITH INDUCTIVE CHARGING OPTION

AirPods from the 2nd generation or Pro can be charged inductively. In this case, you should switch between wired charging and inductive charging to check whether the problem occurs with both variants. If inductive charging works but wired charging does not, there is a problem with the cable. If the wired version works but the inductive version doesn't, there is a problem with the Qi charging pad. If both variants do not work, it is probably hardware damage.

3. DIRT ON THE SOCKET OF THE CASE PREVENTS CHARGING

Dirt on the socket

Examine the socket on the charging case (where the charging cable plugs in). You can find this at the bottom of the case. It’s not uncommon for dirt to collect there. If the socket is dirty, the case's charging cable will not connect as it should.

Therefore, carefully remove the dirt from the socket. Under no circumstances should you use metal objects for this. For example, you can use a wooden toothpick and carefully go into the socket and loosen the dirt. You can also blow into the socket. After cleaning the socket, reconnect the cable and check whether it can now be charged.

4. UPDATE THE FIRMWARE

Outdated firmware can also be a reason for loading problems. Actually the firmware should update automatically. But still make sure that your AirPods' firmware is up to date. You can check this via the settings on your paired iPhone.

5. DEFECT

If, despite all attempts, the charging case still does not charge, it is probably defective. In this case, you should check whether the device is still under warranty and whether the repair costs will be reimbursed or whether you will even get a replacement device.

If this is not the case, you can get original charging cases with a manufacturer's warranty here in our online shop .

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN YOU CHANGE THE AIRPODS CASE?

If your AirPods charging case is damaged, you can order a new Apple charging case for the model of your AirPods. You can also find these with a manufacturer’s warranty here in our shop .

WHAT TO DO IF THE AIRPOD CASE DOESN'T WORK?

If your AirPod case isn't working, you can do several things:

  1. Try a new charger and new charging cable
  2. Carefully remove dirt from the socket of the case
  3. Update firmware
  4. If your warranty is still running, contact Apple Support
  5. If the case is defective and the warranty is no longer valid, buy a new case

HOW DO I SEE IF AIRPOD CASE IS CHARGING?

There are several ways to determine whether your AirPods charging case is charging:

  1. Light on the charging case
  2. Battery status is displayed on iPhone
  3. Battery status is displayed in the battery widget

LEFT AIRPOD DOES NOT CHARGE IN THE CASE

If only one AirPod in the case is not charging, first check whether the respective charging contact on the lower part of the AirPod is clean and free of dirt or debris. Also check the charging contact in the charging case. If that doesn't work, reset the AirPods. If charging the left AirPod still doesn't work, it is probably defective. Normally you would then have to buy a new AirPods bundle, as the manufacturer does not sell individual AirPods. That's not exactly cheap. However, you can also purchase individual Apple AirPods in our shop (with manufacturer's warranty) and save money.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN THE AIRPODS CASE?

You can wipe this from the outside with a microfiber cloth. If you want, you can moisten the cloth slightly with rubbing alcohol. But this only applies to the outside of the housing. You should only work with a brush inside the charging case. This particularly applies to the sensitive charging contacts. Carefully wipe the inside of the charging case with the brush to remove the dirt.

HOW LONG DOES THE AIRPODS CASE HAVE TO CHARGE?

Depending on the model, the charging case takes around 2 hours to be fully charged when connected to a power source via a Lightning cable. After the charging case is fully charged, you can fully charge your AirPods several times before the charging case itself needs to be recharged. The exact number of full charges depends on the capacity of your charging case and AirPods models.
